There is presently a continuous petition to FIFA to evaluate referee Ismail Elfath’s controversial penalty against Portugal, which has sparked public outrage.
Evidently, referee Ismail Elfath made poor decisions when it counted the most, which demoralised the Black Stars team.
Astonishingly, referee Ismail Elfath declined to check the VAR, despite the players’ requests to do so in order to rethink his questionable move.
It is reasonable to request that FIFA investigate referee Ismail Elfath’s performance because it has invested in technology to improve the quality of decisions made on the field of play.
According to some football experts and fans on social media, referee Ismail Elfath and the VAR referees should be suspended because they failed to perform their duties.
Below are some reactions
Dear @FIFAcom, this is a public protest asking you to review and suspend this referee, Ismail Elfath.
He’s an apology of a referee and shouldn’t be doing this at this level. Game changing decisions without remorse. pic.twitter.com/Emj319cyIO

Even Mike Dean feels Ghana were “cheated”. Says it’s scary that the referee wasn’t asked to go take a second look at the Salisu incident on the VAR screen! It’s unfathomable. https://t.co/L5IIamJwQ7
