NACOC seizes Over 2.3 Tonnes of suspected Cannabis in Volta Region operation

The seizure occurred at Gbi-Wegbe, a community near Hohoe, following an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected drug trafficking activities in the area.

According to NACOC, officers raided a farmhouse and warehouse believed to have been used as a storage facility for illegal narcotics, leading to the discovery and confiscation of 2,372.38 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, as part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to curb the production, transportation, and distribution of illicit drugs across the country.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page on Monday, June 1, NACOC said intelligence gathered by investigators led them to the facility, which was allegedly being used to stockpile large quantities of cannabis for distribution.

“Investigations are currently underway to identify and apprehend individuals connected to the illegal operation,” the Commission stated.

NACOC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting communities from the harmful effects of illicit drug use and trafficking, stressing that the fight against substance abuse and narcotics-related crimes remains a key national priority.

The Commission added that it will continue to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling drug networks and bringing perpetrators to justice.
