Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has commenced his Eastern Regional tour with an electrifying start. The tour began on Wednesday, 13th November 2025, at Nsawam and climaxed at Abuakwa South, Kyebi, the political home of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The visit proved to be a defining moment, marked by an inspiring message that resonated deeply with the delegates, delivered by a young and dynamic voice, Mr. Gideon Kwasi Annor.
Mr. Annor, a former aide to Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea, had earlier aligned himself with Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign following the prophetic message of Prophet El Bernard. His open letter, which gained wide circulation, expressed his firm conviction that Kennedy Agyapong embodies the bold truth the NPP must embrace for renewal.
At Kyebi, Mr. Annor was one of four speakers, including Hon. Kennedy Agyapong himself, who addressed the gathering of party delegates. When introduced to speak, he began by declaring that the people of Abuakwa South have every reason to be proud, for theirs is a constituency that has produced the highest number of government officials in Ghana’s history, from the Presidency to the Speakership to Cabinet. It was therefore not surprising, he said, that former President Kufuor once described Abuakwa South as the political Mecca of Ghana.
He reflected that the great minds of the past, such as Dr. J. B. Danquah and his contemporaries, were driven by truth and intellect, the same principles the constituency must rediscover if it wishes to sustain its political heritage. “If we cannot tell the truth anywhere in Ghana,” he declared, “we must at least be able to tell the truth here in Abuakwa South.”
Mr. Annor’s message unfolded in two compelling truths.
First, he observed that the December 7th, 2024 elections revealed a worrying pattern. His analysis of Abuakwa South’s data showed that the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, secured 2,440 more votes than the party’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He questioned how two individuals representing the same party and symbol could record such a disparity. With 24 electoral areas in the constituency, this translated to an average of 100 voters per area who voted for the Parliamentary Candidate but not for the Presidential Candidate. “This,” he stated, “is most alarming and unfortunate.”
Extending his analysis nationally, he revealed that this pattern was consistent across constituencies, amounting to approximately 400,000 more votes for NPP Parliamentary Candidates compared to the Presidential Candidate, a reversal of the party’s historical trend where the Presidential Candidate traditionally led the tally. He noted that while the NDC’s vote total increased by only about 100,000 compared to the 2020 presidential elections, more than two million NPP supporters abstained from voting altogether. “If our PCs collectively had 400,000 more votes than our Presidential Candidate,” he asked, “does that not explain who is responsible for the two million of our people deciding not to come out to vote?”
Secondly, Mr. Annor appealed to the delegates to be discerning in their choices. While acknowledging that many looked up to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, he reminded them that very few had direct access to him. For years, he noted, delegates in the constituency had relied on Hon. Atta Akyea and now Hon. Dr. Kingsley Agyemang for guidance and support. He reminded them that Hon. Atta Akyea and Hon. Kennedy Agyapong share a long-standing bond as Adisadel College classmates, a connection that remains one of the strongest forms of camaraderie in Ghanaian social life. “So,” he said, “voting for Kennedy Agyapong will not deny your beloved Atta Akyea access to the next NPP presidency.”
He continued, “Whatever traits you admire in your MP, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, his benevolence, empathy, service to the needy, and commitment to creating opportunities, are the very traits Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has demonstrated throughout his public life, not only in Assin Central but across Ghana for decades.”
He concluded passionately that one cannot claim to love Dr. Kingsley Agyemang yet reject Kennedy Agyapong, for the latter embodies the very qualities the former represents. “If you truly desire to see your MP elevated as a Minister in the shortest possible time under the next NPP government,” he said, “then your best choice is to stand firmly with Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, for his route is faster and sure.”
When Hon. Kennedy Agyapong later took his turn to speak, he paused to acknowledge the young man who had spoken before him. “Look at the wise words from this young man,” he said. “I am sure he would not have said these things in the past, but look at the boldness and sense he has demonstrated today. He has done so well, and may God bless him.”
Before he went ahead to share his own message of truth and hope with the delegates, which proved both powerful and deeply successful, the atmosphere was already charged with a sense of hope and belief. His address that followed only deepened the conviction that the NPP stands on the brink of a defining transformation.
The tour continues through other parts of the Eastern Region with renewed energy, faith, and anticipation for what lies ahead.
