Gospel musician Piesie Esther says she has never faced the difficulties some artistes encounter when collaborating with colleagues.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on November 13, 2025, she said it surprises her to hear of musicians struggling to work together because of fees or disputes.
According to her, the solid relationships she has developed in the industry over the years mean her colleagues do not charge her for collaborations.
Buttressing her point, Piesie Esther said, “I’ve never had issues working with other artistes. Sometimes it surprises me when I hear those complaints from colleagues. In this job, I’ve never reached out to any artiste and been charged. From the people I started with up to now, none of them have ever taken money from me. Because of the relationships I’ve built, when I go for my colleagues’ events, I sometimes show up with my full band of about ten people and cover all the costs myself,” she said.
She added that she has also never taken money from colleagues who invite her to perform, and even when they try to give her something, she does not accept it.
“And because of that, when they also come for my shows, they don’t expect anything. Sometimes after they perform, we just give them a little something for fuel. I’m not saying others shouldn’t charge, but personally, I don’t take money from any artiste who invites me to their show. Even if you give me money, I won’t take it,” she added.
