The talented musician, Kuami Eugene, has recently revealed his decision to forgo pursuing royalties from the renowned music duo, Keche. Despite feeling hurt by their disparaging remarks about him, he has chosen not to assert his rights to the copyright.
During an interview with Berla Mundi on Accra-based TV3, Kuami Eugene emphasized the importance of Ghanaian musicians acknowledging and appreciating the contributions of others. He believes it is high time for the music industry to give credit where credit is due.
“I wrote the hook, they said a lot, especially the tall one. His gestures made it look like I didn’t help. The gestures made it look like they did it themselves…This same no dulling I don’t have royalties from it. I respect you because you said this thing before me and you’re aware it’s making money and you want me to approach you and say I have not got any money from it…They started talking so I said they should keep it.”
On why he pursued Mr. Drew, he indicated that even though Mr Drew is older than him, he was in the game before Mr Drew and had to teach him to respect copyright issues.
