The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has cautioned the public to avoid dealing with unauthorised persons or agents when seeking consular and other ministry-related services.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of its operations, stressing that the use of forged or fraudulent documents constitutes a criminal offence and will be referred to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
The Ministry urged citizens to rely only on its official communication platforms—its website, verified social media handles, and recognised media outlets—for accurate updates and service procedures. It emphasised that all consular requests must be handled directly by designated officers at the Ministry’s headquarters or through Ghana’s accredited missions abroad.
To curb fraudulent practices, the Ministry reminded the public that payments must never be made to unauthorised individuals. All official transactions are to be conducted in cash exclusively with Controller and Accountant-General’s Department officials stationed at the Ministry, with receipts issued at the point of payment.
The statement also outlined updated fees and timelines for key services:
-
Document Attestation and Legalisation – GH¢200, processed within five working days. Applicants must submit original documents verified by the Judicial Service of Ghana, valid identification, and proof of payment.
-
Travel Certificate – GH¢200, issued within two to three working days. Requirements include a signed application letter, passport bio-data page (valid or expired), two passport-sized photos, and a flight itinerary. Applicants are advised to confirm airline acceptance before travel.
