The Kade Police in the Eastern South Region have launched an investigation into the death of a young couple following an alleged domestic dispute.
The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Atta Panyin and his 21-year-old girlfriend, Deborah. Both hail from Akyem Takworase but were residing in Kade at the time of the incident.
According to information gathered from local sources, Deborah had been living in their hometown until Atta Panyin brought her to Kade, where he supported her to learn a trade. The couple had been in a relationship for some time, but a misunderstanding later led Deborah to relocate to Kasoa in the Central Region.
She reportedly returned to Kade to formally end the relationship, informing Atta Panyin that she had found another partner and had come to retrieve her personal belongings. Sources say this decision angered Atta Panyin and resulted in a confrontation between the two.
It is alleged that during the disagreement, Atta Panyin locked the room and prevented Deborah from packing her items. Concerned friends later raised alarm over Deborah’s whereabouts, prompting neighbours to force their way into the room on February 2, 2025.
Upon entry, Deborah was found dead with injuries suspected to have been inflicted with a knife. Atta Panyin was also found dead in the same room, with police suspecting he may have taken his own life.
The lifeless body of Deborah
The deaths have shocked residents of the community, many of whom described the incident as tragic and unexpected.
Police have conveyed the bodies to the Kade Government Hospital morgue for preservation while investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
