Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist Joseph Badu Boateng, popularly known as Dada Joe, has formally petitioned the Ghana Police Service and the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, over what he describes as a brazen attempt on his life by the Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah.
According to the petition, the alleged incident occurred on April 18, 2025, during a peaceful health walk in Nkenkaasu organized as part of Easter festivities to promote unity in the Offinso North Constituency.
Mr. Boateng, the organizer of the event, recounted that he left briefly for Akumadan to resolve transportation issues and was returning when his vehicle was blocked by a white Toyota Hilux pickup, reportedly driven by one Daniel Opoku, also known as Opoku Ware. The petition alleges that the obstruction was deliberately orchestrated at the instruction of the MP.

After finally navigating past the obstruction, Mr. Boateng said gunshots rang out from the residence of Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah. One of the bullets struck the rear windshield of his vehicle. The shooter, identified in the petition as Police Inspector Awuah Ernest—the personal bodyguard of the MP—is alleged to have intentionally targeted Mr. Boateng.
Eyewitnesses, including media personnel present at the scene, confirmed the gunshots and believe that the businessman was the intended victim of a premeditated attack.
Calling for urgent action, Mr. Boateng submitted photo and video evidence to support his claims and urged the Ghana Police Service to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation. He also appealed to the Speaker of Parliament to ensure accountability, stressing that no one should be above the law.
“This was not an accident. It was a targeted and deliberate act meant to intimidate or eliminate me,” Mr. Boateng stated in the petition. “I’m calling for justice, not just for myself, but for every Ghanaian who believes in peace, democracy, and the rule of law.”
