Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Stan Dogbe, has reiterated President Mahama’s dedication to peaceful and democratic governance, making it clear that the new administration has no intention of engaging in retaliatory politics.
Representing the Chief of Staff during the receipt of a petition from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin at the Save The Judiciary demonstration, Dogbe also commended the protestors for the peaceful conduct of the march.
“Let me say that we are happy, Charlie, that your process started this morning and has ended very peacefully,” he said. “That in itself is a very strong message about the democracy that President Mahama wants to instil in our dear country.”
Dogbe also addressed concerns that recent government actions may be politically motivated responses to perceived injustices under the Akufo-Addo administration.
“President Mahama does not believe in retaliatory politics. He is described as too much of a father for all kinds of presidents—and everybody knows that,” he noted.
He stressed that the processes currently underway, including investigations and institutional reforms, are fully backed by constitutional provisions.
“Whatever actions are being taken now… are in line with the provisions of our 1992 Constitution,” Dogbe added, referencing past cases President Akufo-Addo had also forwarded to the Council of State.
Dogbe assured Ghanaians that the Mahama-led administration will protect democratic rights and allow space for civil expression without interference.
“Nobody is going to inhibit or stop anybody from going there,” he said. “That should tell you that President Mahama, in just less than 120 days, has demonstrated how he is going to save the democracy of Ghana.”
