In a joint intelligence-led operation by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Bureau of National Investigations, a suspect identified as Joshua Kojo Anane Boateng, an entrepreneur residing in East Legon, Accra, was arrested on May 6, 2026.
The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service announced on May 12, 2026, that the suspect was arrested in connection with the possession and non-consensual dissemination of intimate images, as well as alleged cyber sexual abuse.
According to Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of the CID, investigations uncovered a Telegram platform known as “VIP Sleep Fetish 2025,” which was allegedly operated by the suspect.
Police alleged that Joshua Kojo Anane Boateng drugged unsuspecting victims, sexually assaulted them while recording the acts, and later disseminated the content online without their consent.
She stated that, “The suspect is alleged to have frequented nightclubs in 2025, where he seduced, sedated, and sexually assaulted female victims before recording and disseminating their intimate images without their consent.”
During the arrest, police retrieved two iPhones, a feature phone, a memory card, empty sachets suspected to contain drugs, and other items.
The electronic devices have been retained for forensic examination, while the Food and Drugs Authority is investigating the empty sachets.
Further reports suggest that the suspect is allegedly the same individual known on social media as “SoAfrican,” a well-known socialite.
Videos and images circulating online reportedly show several celebrities associated with him, sparking discussions among social media users about possible links between public figures and alleged criminal activities.
