Erstwhile Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has said he has no reservations with Asamoah Gyan over Black Stars captaincy saga in 2019.
Gyan, who had led the national team for more than five years, was replaced by coach Appiah as captain of Black Stars ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Before the tournament, the two men were great friends, but Appiah shocked the entire nation when he confirmed Andre Ayew as his new leader.
Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, was fired as substantive captain despite being named to the squad for the tournament.
This prompted the striker to quit the national team before President Nana Akufo Addo intervened to persuade him to reconsider his decision.
Kwasi Appiah stated in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah’s TV that he has no beef with Gyan over the captaincy controversy.
“We talk whenever we meet but I don’t know if he has issues with me. He (Gyan) knows I didn’t offend him”.
In the meantime, Kwasi Appiah has stated his intention to return to the national team after leaving in 2019.
Gyan is yet to play for any team since leaving Legon Cities, despite failing to publicly announce his retirement.
