“I won’t stop talking about Sarkodie — who are you?” — Stonebwoy’s PRO dares critics
Vida Adutwumaa, Stonebwoy’s Head of Public Relations, has defiantly responded to critics over her comments about rapper Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, insisting that she will not be intimidated into silence.
In a video shared on X, Vida addressed the backlash she faced after criticising Sarkodie over his reported decision to share a video allegedly mocking people with disabilities, including dancehall musician Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy.
Defending her position, Vida said her nearly two decades of experience in the entertainment industry had earned her the confidence to speak on matters concerning musicians and the wider creative sector.
“I won’t stop mentioning Sarkodie’s name. I won’t stop mentioning the name of any other artiste. Those of you beneath who think you can tell me what I can talk about and what I cannot talk about, I want to make it clear to you that I have been in this industry for almost two decades. I started in May 2007. I will be 19 years in the industry this year. Those who think they can tell me what to do should deduct 19 or 20 years from their ages. If by then they weren’t in diapers, running in kindergarten,” she said.
The public relations executive further argued that her professional relationship with Stonebwoy would not prevent her from commenting on developments involving other artistes. She maintained that the musician who employs her appreciates her ability to understand industry issues while managing his public relations.
“The fact that I work with Stonebwoy won’t stop me from discussing anything in the industry. And Stonebwoy admires the fact that I am able to have a grip on industry issues and also have a grip on what I am doing for him. You haven’t hired me, and even the person who is paying me isn’t talking. Do you know the kind of conversations I have with Stonebwoy behind closed doors?” she added.
Vida’s comments have reignited discussion about the responsibilities of public relations officers in Ghana’s entertainment industry, particularly when professional duties overlap with public disputes involving prominent artistes.
Her latest response suggests she has no intention of retreating from the controversy, despite the criticism directed at her over her position on Sarkodie’s alleged sharing of the video.
