Nana B, Nana Akomea to be sworn in as NPP Vice Chairmen today
Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea are expected to be sworn into office today [Tuesday, October 6] as the Second and Third Vice Chairmen, respectively, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The two newly elected executives were not present at the swearing-in ceremony held shortly after the party’s National Delegates Congress and National Officers’ Elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3.
Their absence meant that they could not take the oath of office alongside some of the other newly elected national executives immediately after the elections.
However, Nana Akomea disclosed that the two will be formally sworn in during the first meeting of the newly elected NPP national executives, which is scheduled for today.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, Nana Akomea explained that although he and Henry Nana Boakye were unable to participate in the initial swearing-in ceremony, arrangements had been made for them to take the oath at the executives’ first meeting.
“We have our first meeting on Tuesday, I think. Our first meeting as new executives and I am sure I will get myself sworn in.”
The expected swearing-in will complete the formal process of assuming office for Nana Akomea and Henry Nana Boakye, following their election at the party’s national delegates congress.
The NPP held its National Delegates Congress and National Officers’ Elections on October 3 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, bringing together delegates from across the country to elect a new crop of national officers to lead the party.
The elections formed part of the party’s efforts to constitute its national leadership as it prepares for the next phase of its political activities.
Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, was elected as Second Vice Chairman, while Nana Akomea secured the position of Third Vice Chairman.
Kwadwo Fosu Boadu was elected First Vice Chairman of the party after beating both Nana Akomea and Henry Nana Boakye.
