McBrown turns 49th birthday into star-studded premiere of ‘Ama’

Ghanaian actress and media personality Felicity Ama Agyemang, popularly known as Nana Ama McBrown, celebrated her 49th birthday with a star-studded premiere of her latest movie, Ama, at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra.

The premiere drew large crowds across three screenings held at 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm, with fans filling the auditorium to celebrate McBrown and support her latest production.

The occasion quickly turned into a major entertainment spectacle as several Ghanaian musicians took turns on stage. KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Wendy Shay, Lord Paper and Lasmid entertained patrons with performances that extended the celebration beyond the movie.

The event also attracted Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister Dzifa Abla Gomashie, comedian Jeffrey Nortey, General Nntatia, content creator Quecy Official, actor Nana Yaw Addo and a host of other entertainers and social media personalities.

Beyond the birthday festivities, Ama represents McBrown’s attempt to give emerging creatives greater visibility in Ghana’s film industry. The production features several young talents, including TikTok creators making their first appearances on the big screen.

The movie was written and directed by WhoIsAclaw, with McBrown and actor-comedian Aka Ebenezer among the cast.

The actress has positioned the project as part of her contribution towards rebuilding Ghana’s film sector by providing opportunities for young actors and other creatives.

Ama also tackles social issues, particularly the need to keep girls in school and the dangers associated with child and early marriage. It further sends a message to parents about taking responsibility for their children’s education instead of relying on them to solve household financial challenges.

The film’s message and emotional storyline received a warm response from the audience, who applauded after the screening.

With music, comedy, film and celebrity appearances dominating the occasion, McBrown’s birthday celebration became more than a movie premiere, serving as a platform to celebrate her career while spotlighting the next generation of Ghanaian filmmaking talent.
