C/R: Deputy Energy Minister Pledges Electricity Substation for Gomoa West to Address Persistent Low Voltage Challenges
Speaking during the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 24-hour market complex at Apam Junction, Hon. Gyan-Mensah disclosed that 66 communities within the district would benefit from ongoing electricity extension projects.
According to the Deputy Minister, the government remains committed to resolving the electricity challenges confronting the district and has initiated plans to establish a dedicated substation to improve power supply and enhance electricity distribution.
He explained that Gomoa West currently relies on the Winneba Substation for electricity supply. However, rapid population growth and increasing demand for power have placed significant pressure on the existing infrastructure, resulting in frequent power fluctuations and outages.
Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyamful Krampa XI, commended the government for constructing 24-hour market complexes across the three Gomoa districts, describing the initiative as a major boost to trade, commerce, and economic development.
The District Chief Executive for Gomoa West, Hon. Mohammed Kassim, also appealed to the contractor executing the project to prioritise the employment of local youth during the construction phase.
He further urged young people in the district to refrain from stealing construction materials and instead support efforts to ensure the successful completion of the project.
