“I want a collaboration with Shatta and Sarkodie” — Adwoa Power reveals
Ghanaian musician Adwoa Kyerewaa, popularly known as Adwoa Power, has revealed her dream of collaborating with Shatta Wale and Sarkodie.
In an interview with Nana Ama Ntiful on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show, Adwoa Power stated that if she were to collaborate with any secular artistes, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie would be her top choices.
Explaining her decision, Adwoa said Shatta Wale is often misunderstood by the public. According to her, some of his songs carry deep spiritual messages and preach the word of God.
She stated: “Sarkodie or Shatta Wale. He is a man of God — a real man of God — but many Ghanaians do not know that. Shatta has a particular song which, if you listen carefully to the lyrics, you will realise he is preaching the word of God. He is very serious about what he does. So, I hope that one day I will have a song with him or Sarkodie. Although there are some of his songs I would not listen to, I still believe Shatta is a man of God. I see God’s ways in him. He knows what he is doing, and when he sings, you can feel there is power behind it. That is what music is about.”
According to Adwoa, although she has known Shatta Wale for some time, she has not yet discussed her desire to collaborate with him. However, she believes the right time will come. She also disclosed that she has never met Sarkodie before.
“For Shatta, I know him a bit, but I have not met Sarkodie yet. Shatta knows I like him, and when the time is right, I will speak to him so we can work together. I have not discussed the collaboration with him yet, but I believe we will do something together in the future,” she said.
Addressing concerns about gospel musicians collaborating with secular artistes, Adwoa stated that she sees nothing wrong with such partnerships. According to her, both gospel and secular music reflect life experiences and human realities.
“That is why I said if you listen to the song by Shatta that I mentioned, and you are spiritually discerning, you will realise that the things he talks about are not just ordinary words. That is how music is. So, it does not matter whether the music is gospel or secular. Personally, I do not see much difference between them because they all talk about life. We are living in this world, so both genres speak about life on earth,” she clarified.
Adwoa Power recently released her latest single, M’abre, which she says was inspired by the struggles people go through in life.
“We are all suffering, but after the struggles, God never puts us to shame. He continues to bless us. Even if you speak to the richest people and hear their stories, you will realise they also went through hardship before succeeding,” she explained.
