Residents of Jeddah, a community in Amasaman Ga West Municipality, Greater Accra Region, are sounding the alarm over poor street lighting, citing increased insecurity and business disruptions.
The area is plunged into darkness after sunset, with locals fearing crime and struggling to operate at night.
Deputy IMAM Abass Abdul Karim told Oyerepa News Bernard K Dadzie the lack of street lights makes nighttime walking hazardous, urging government intervention.
Residents also highlighted inadequate access to education, with no school in the community, forcing children to travel long distances to Akrama.
Issah Adams, Imam of Jeddah, is appealing to the government to provide a hospital for the community, stating that there’s a available land for construction.
He emphasized that Jeddah is a big community needing support, and hopes the government will help.
Sarliki Alhuji Abdullahi Alhassan, chief of Jeddah is urging Jeddah’s youth, especially Okada riders, to maintain peace and avoid conflict.
He also appealed to the government to help build a larger Mosque, as the current one is too small for the Muslim population.
