President John Dramani Mahama has nominated a new cohort of Ambassadors and High Commissioners to head Ghana’s diplomatic missions around the world, in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s international presence and aligning foreign policy with current national priorities.
The appointments were announced in an official statement issued by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, following consultations with the Council of State.
The latest nominations signal a strategic shift in Ghana’s foreign engagement, reflecting the administration’s broader diplomatic and economic agenda.
Among the nominees is former Deputy Finance Minister and seasoned economist, Mona Helen Kabuki Quartey, who has been appointed as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic.
Renowned energy specialist Dr. Kwame Ampofo has been designated to serve as Ghana’s envoy to Hungary.
Veteran politician Paul Evans Aidoo has been nominated as High Commissioner to Kenya, while former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Magnus Kofi Amoatey is set to represent Ghana in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Also on the list is Attah Kojo Choi, a naturalised Ghanaian who relocated to the country at the age of 14. He has been nominated to serve as Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea.
