Koku Anyidoho, Founder and President of the Atta Mills Institute, has expressed concerns that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) may lose significant votes in one of its traditional strongholds.
In an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time on Monday, Anyidoho stated that the Dagomba tribe in the Northern Region is dissatisfied with the NDC’s treatment of MP for Tamale South Constituency Haruna Iddrisu, a former minority leader which may lead to a backlash against the party in the upcoming elections.
He noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Nana Addo, has appointed several lawmakers from the Northern regions to ministerial positions, which could potentially increase the NPP’s vote share in the 2024 polls.
“As we speak if you put the 3 northern regions together, thus; North-East, Northern Region and then Savanna….Where John Mahama and Bawumia come from…..
NDC made a mistake in terms of our transition of power (minority). We didn’t manage it well. It seems Haruna was thrown out, disgracefully.”
As we speak, almost all the Dogomba NPP MPs have been elevated to ministerial positions.
So the narrative is that, while NDC is disgracing a son of Dagbon (Haruna Iddrisu), NPP is elevating sons of Dagbon and that will go against the NDC.” Koku Anyidoho stated.
