In a bold statement, Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that if his party emerges victorious in the 2024 general elections, they will launch a thorough investigation into the controversial Agyapa deal.
Gyamfi emphasized that the NDC will not only retrieve all illegal payments made under the deal but also ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Gyamfi, speaking on behalf of the opposition NDC, revealed the party’s plans to take decisive action against the government regarding the Agyapa Royalties deal.
He outlined that the next NDC administration will not only scrap the Agyapa Royalties deal but also redirect the funds towards job creation for the youth and bolster the healthcare sector.
Highlighting the misuse of funds, Gyamfi pointed out that the current government had squandered $12 million on the Agyapa deal, funds that could have been utilized to cover the costs of life-saving treatments for kidney patients in Ghana.
He lamented the closure of the Renal Dialysis unit at the Korle Teaching Hospital, resulting in the loss of lives due to lack of adequate funding.
