Prof. Ransford Gyampo, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, expressed his disagreement with Kofi Bentil, Vice President of IMANI Ghana, regarding a comment that appears to defend Dr. Bawumia.
Over the past week, Mr. Bentil has been in the news for urging Ghanaians to support Vice President Dr. Bawumia, who is seeking to succeed his boss, President Akufo-Addo.
In a Facebook post dated February 3, 2023, Mr. Bentil, a lawyer, presented several reasons why he believes Bawumia deserves the opportunity to serve as president, given his seven-year tenure as vice president under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
During an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Prof. Gyampo expressed his disagreement with Mr. Bentil’s statements and quizzed his whereabouts when 170 questions were posed to Amissah-Arthur.
“When Amissah-Arthur was the vice president, a lot of questions were posed to him, including Dr. Bawumia’s 170 questions. I was expecting Kofi Bentil to say Amissah-Arthur is just a vice president, so the question posed to him is unfair. But I never heard anyone say that.”
“If you did not do that during Amissah-Arthur’s time and now you are doing this, some of us will say it is unfair to do that. I thought that was his thought. I strongly disagree with him.” Prof. Gyampo told Akua Asieduwaa host of the show.
