The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was at Abutia Teti in the Ho West Constituency on Saturday for the final burial rites for former Minister of Transport Dzifa Aku Attivor.
Mrs Attivor died on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 after a short illness.
A pre-burial ceremony was held for her at the forecourt of the State House on Friday, February 18.
The burial ceremony at Abutia Teti was graced by top party officials including three-time flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, Vice Presdential Candidate Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu and members of his caucus.
The late Madam Aku Attivor was first appointed into public office by the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills as a Deputy Minister of Transport in his government.
After former president John Dramani Mahama took the reins in 2012, he promoted Madam Attivor by naming her the Minister of Transport in his government.
She held this position until 2015 when she resigned due to the infamous bus branding saga.
She was accused of financial impropriety in the award of a GH¢3.6 million contract to Smarttys Production in the re-branding of 116 Metro Mass Transit buses that year.
Despite resigning her position, she had expressed fears of being jailed if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to power.
Madam Attivor later joined the Volta Region chairmanship race of the NDC.
She, however, lost the elections in 2018 to incumbent John Kudzo Gyapong.
She had a decade earlier contested the Ho West Parliamentary Primaries of the NDC but lost to Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra.
She died at 65.
