A prominent member of Alan Kyerematen’s campaign team, Collins Owusu Amankwaah, has firmly stated that they will vehemently oppose any efforts by their opponents to manipulate the upcoming presidential primaries.
The NPP has scheduled its presidential primaries for November 4, 2024. Ten candidates, including Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Joe Ghartey, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, are optimistic about securing the party’s flagbearer position.
However, Amankwaah firmly believes that his major opponents’ factions are plotting to rig the primaries through unfair means.
Speaking to Sometymer Otuo Acheampong on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North Constituency revealed that Alan Kyerematen’s camp will resist any attempts by certain individuals within the NPP to manipulate the party’s presidential elections.
He further disclosed that some high-ranking NPP executives in various constituencies, particularly in the Ashanti Region, have already begun tampering with delegates’ albums. Nevertheless, Amankwaah assured that Alan’s camp is highly vigilant and prepared to confront anyone head-on.
“We’ll not permit voting to take place in any constituency that’s planning to remove names of some delegates in the NPP album. We’ll never sit aloof and watch one person take the law into his hands to cheat us. It will never happen,” he said.
Collins added that “Whoever is planning on changing the album should forget about it because it will never happen, we’ll deal with you drastically.”
The former lawmaker stated that the camp of Alan Kyerematen is optimistic that, their leader will win the upcoming NPP presidential primaries considering his track record in the party.
Balloting for positions for the National Congress of the NPP on Saturday, August 26 has been completed and Alan Kyerematen is 2nd on the ballot sheet.
