“Stop dragging my PA” — BamBam reacts over missing phone

Nigerian actress and reality TV star Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, popularly known as BamBam, has broken her silence following reports about her missing mobile phone, firmly denying claims that her personal assistant stole the device.

The actress addressed the controversy in a video after social media users began accusing her assistant of theft when a clip surfaced online showing the aide removing a phone from BamBam’s handbag during a public event.

According to BamBam, the incident happened shortly after a memorial gathering organised in honour of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo. She explained that the atmosphere at the event was emotional, with guests exchanging hugs, greetings, and reflecting on the impact the actor had on their lives.

“Yesterday, we went to celebrate the life of Alexx Ekubo and right after the ceremony was over, we all exchanged pleasantries and just being grateful. For the life he lived, I’ve learnt so much. How can someone be so perfect? Every life he touched was an encounter. Nobody had anything less to say about him,” she said.

BamBam disclosed that she only realised the phone was missing after entering her vehicle. Reacting to the viral video involving her assistant, the actress insisted the move was purely protective because her handbag had been left open in a crowded environment.

“Then I got into my car and noticed my phone wasn’t with me. I saw a video circulating about a lady moving a phone from my bag; that’s my personal assistant. That place was rowdy and the bag I was carrying was open, so she just thought to remove my phone so that it wouldn’t be stolen,” she explained.

She further stated that by the time her assistant returned her belongings after the programme, the phone had already disappeared. BamBam admitted she initially believed the device was still with her aide until they both realised it could not be found.

“After the event, she came to take my bag and the things with me, but the phone was already gone at that time. I actually thought when she took my bag and the paper I was holding, she was with my phone until we got into the car and I asked her where my phone was, and she said it’s not with her,” BamBam stated.

The actress suggested the phone may have been taken while she interacted with mourners and fans who approached her for photographs after the ceremony.

“Probably when we were hugging and exchanging pleasantries or at any point, because some people came that they wanted to take selfies. It was odd to me that people wanted to take selfies at an event like this when we were leaving the hall. Why would a human being consider a place of service of songs a place to rob?” she questioned.

BamBam also appealed to the public to stop criticising her assistant online, stressing that the woman was innocent and should not be wrongly accused.

“Stop dragging my PA. She didn’t steal the phone from me and she shouldn’t trend for the wrong reasons. It got stolen after the event was over, and the video circulating was when we were trying to enter the hall. I had the phone with me during the entire ceremony and even made some posts online,” she added.
