Stanbic Bank Ghana has donated GH₵500,000 to the newly established Support Fund, set up to provide financial assistance to the children of victims of the recent military helicopter crash near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.
President John Dramani Mahama announced the contribution during the state funeral on August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square.
In a statement, Stanbic Bank’s Chief Executive, Kwamina Asomaning, expressed the bank’s condolences to the bereaved families, particularly the children who have lost their parents.
“In the aftermath of this tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of dedicated servicemen, our deepest sympathies go to the families left behind—especially the children who must now face life without their parents,” Mr. Asomaning stated.
He added that the donation represents not only financial support but also a gesture of unity and compassion. “We hope this contribution offers some relief and serves as a message of hope—that these children are not alone, and Ghana stands with them,” he said.
Stanbic Bank also commended President Mahama for initiating the Support Fund and pledged its commitment to working towards ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, has the opportunity to thrive.
The August 6, 2025, crash plunged the nation into mourning when a military helicopter carrying senior government officials and crew lost contact en route to Obuasi and crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District, killing eight people.
