Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has come to the defence of Sammy Gyamfi, CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, amid public criticism over a viral video showing Gyamfi giving U.S. dollar notes to evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
Posting on Facebook on May 12, 2025, Shatta Wale condemned the backlash, accusing critics of unjustly attacking Gyamfi. He emphasized that Gyamfi has been supporting underprivileged individuals long before receiving his appointment from President John Dramani Mahama.
“Do you all know when Sammy Gyamfi started helping the streets? All of you should shut up and leave the young man alone if you don’t know about someone’s humble beginnings. We like tarnishing people’s image too much,” the musician wrote.
The controversy erupted after a video clip of Gyamfi handing out dollar bills to Agradaa surfaced online, prompting mixed reactions from the public and raising questions about the appropriateness of the gesture during economic hardships.
