Senya Bereku Sea Attack: “Those Who Attacked Us Are Nigerians” – Victims Allege
Some victims of the recent sea attack at Senya Bereku have alleged that the armed men who attacked them were Nigerians.
The fishermen, who were rescued after the incident, claimed the attackers spoke with foreign accents they identified as Nigerian and operated with what they described as a high level of coordination and sophistication.
A total of 71 victims have been rescued so far. Forty-seven were brought to Senya Bereku, while 24 others were rescued in Tema in the Greater Accra Region. The number includes three children.
Speaking in an interview with Nana Ansah, the victims said the attackers had covered their faces with masks, making it difficult to clearly identify them.
According to the victims, the assailants were four in number and arrived in a black painted boat that resembled a naval vessel.
They further appealed to the government and security agencies to intensify naval patrols and provide adequate protection for fishermen operating at sea.
Meanwhile, the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere, has pledged support for the victims and urged the Member of Parliament (MP) and the District Chief Executive (DCE) to closely monitor the situation and ensure the well-being of those affected.
