President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 15 individuals for ambassadorial and high commissioner roles as part of a new slate of diplomatic appointments. The diverse list includes prominent figures from politics, academia, and the arts, reflecting a strategic blend aimed at strengthening Ghana’s diplomatic presence globally.
Among the notable nominees is celebrated actress and former model Kalsoume Sinare, who has been tapped to serve as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.
With a distinguished career in the Ghanaian film industry and a well-known affiliation with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sinare’s appointment marks a significant move in Ghana’s cultural diplomacy efforts. Her cousin, Alhaji Said Sinare, a former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, was also reportedly considered for a diplomatic post.
Other key nominations include:

Nii Amasah Namoale, former Member of Parliament for La-Dadekotopon and ex-Deputy Minister of Agriculture, who has been nominated as Ambassador to Brazil. An agronomist by profession, Namoale brings years of political and technical experience to the role.

Kojo Bonsu, former Mayor of Kumasi and sports administrator, who has also been named among the nominees, underlining the President’s intent to appoint seasoned leaders with diverse backgrounds.
In the academic field, two distinguished educators feature prominently:

Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, former Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Associate Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, the first female Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
The nominations were announced in a letter dated June 10, 2025, signed by Presidential Secretary Dr. Callistus Mahama, and made in consultation with the Council of State, pursuant to Article 74 of the 1992 Constitution.
All appointments are subject to parliamentary vetting and approval.
