Police seize Truck with over 3,000 suspected Narcotics slabs, arrest two for bribery

The Ghana Police Service in the Tema Region has intercepted a truck carrying over 3,000 slabs of substances suspected to be narcotics and arrested two individuals for attempting to bribe officers.

According to a press release from the Tema Regional Police Command, the intelligence-led operation took place on February 15, 2026, at around 12:10 a.m., at Sege Akpla Manya in the Greater Accra Region. The operation was carried out by officers of the Regional Patrols Unit.

Police reported that the Sinotruck tipper, with registration number GN 993-14, was loaded with fertiliser sacks containing 3,009 slabs of plant material suspected to be cannabis. The driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled upon noticing police presence.

The truck and its contents have been impounded at the Tema Regional Headquarters as investigations continue to identify the driver and verify the ownership of the vehicle.

In a related development, two suspects—40-year-old Victor Asigbey and 35-year-old Peter Asigbey—were arrested on February 16, 2026, for allegedly attempting to bribe officers at the Regional CID Office in Tema with GH¢150,000 to secure the release of the truck and the suspected narcotics.

The cash has been recovered and is being held as evidence, while the suspects remain in custody assisting with investigations. They are expected to be arraigned before court on February 18, 2026.

The Tema Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating narcotics-related crimes and upholding integrity in the performance of its duties.
