Police probe alleged abduction, abuse of women at Ntano

The Eastern Regional Police Command has launched investigations into the alleged abduction and physical abuse of women at a gated residential facility at Ntano Electoral Area in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The facility, located around the CMB Workshop area, is reportedly occupied by about 18 West African nationals involved in network marketing, according to preliminary police investigations.

Residents alerted the police after repeatedly hearing unusual noises and cries believed to be coming from women inside the apartments, particularly in the evenings.

The concerns prompted the deployment of personnel from the Counter Terrorism Unit and the Effiduase Police Command to the area, where some of the suspects were arrested.

The arrested suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue into allegations that women were abducted, held against their will and subjected to physical abuse at the facility.

The police are yet to provide further details on the identities of the suspects, the number of women allegedly affected and the circumstances surrounding the reported incidents.
