Police arrest ‘Duabo King’ over alleged false publication

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 45-year-old man, Isaac Boafo, popularly known as “Duabo King,” for allegedly publishing false information with intent to cause fear and panic.

In a press release dated March 1, 2026, the Ashanti Regional Police Command stated that the arrest followed a viral TikTok video in which the suspect alleged that four officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi had engaged in inappropriate conduct with commercial sex workers during night patrols at Asafo.

According to the statement, officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate in the Ashanti Region acted on intelligence to apprehend the suspect.

“Acting on intelligence, officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate (Ashanti Region) apprehended the suspect,” the statement said.

During interrogation, Isaac Boafo reportedly admitted to publishing the video. He explained that he is a social media content creator and made the allegations solely to attract views and increase online engagement.

Police indicated that he further confessed he could not substantiate the claims made against the officers.

The suspect also acknowledged making remarks about the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, for content creation purposes, admitting he was unable to defend those statements.

He has since been formally charged and remains in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Police cautioned the public against publishing and circulating false information, particularly on social media, warning that such actions can cause unnecessary fear, panic, and reputational harm. They stressed that anyone found engaging in such conduct will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
