The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited Julius Neequaye Kotey, Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), for questioning following his revelation of a GH¢4 million bribery attempt.
Mr Kotey disclosed in a media interview that some unidentified individuals had offered him a sum to halt the implementation of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DVRP) policy, an initiative aimed at curbing vehicle-related fraud and improving road safety.
In a statement, the OSP confirmed it is engaging the DVLA boss to gather more details and identify the persons behind the alleged bribery attempt.
Meanwhile, the OSP has also commenced investigations into a sitting member of the Council of State over alleged corruption linked to gold trading.
Sources indicate that the probe centres on accusations that the Council member leveraged his position to influence the granting of a gold licence to a company in which he allegedly has undisclosed interests.
