Some Ghanaians abroad, called Diaspora for Bawumia have Officially declared their unflinching support for Flagbearer Hopeful of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the party’s presidential primaries on November 4, 2023.
The group firmly believes that Dr. Bawumia is the only candidate capable of leading the party to success in the 2024 elections.
During a press conference held in Kumasi on Monday, October 30, Baba Awal, the Vice Chairman of Diaspora for Bawumia stated that Ghana’s Vice President is the sole candidate who can help the party break the eight-year cycle in the upcoming 2024 general elections. Therefore, the Diaspora group is fully supporting him in his quest to win the party’s presidential primaries on November 4.
The group highlights Dr. Bawumia’s tireless dedication to the NPP since becoming the vice-presidential candidate in 2008, making him a worthy leader for the party in 2024.
Dr. Bawumia’s impact in the 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 elections cannot be overlooked. His exceptional performance during the election petition in 2013, his numerous public lectures, his visible achievements as vice president, and his influence, particularly in the northern regions of Ghana, the Zongo communities, and the settler communities, have solidified his position as the inevitable presidential candidate for the upcoming general elections.
Diaspora for Bawumia firmly believes that Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy will serve as a catalyst to challenge the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in their strongholds across the country. It is undeniable that Dr. Bawumia’s influence played a significant role in the NPP’s increased support in the Northern regions during recent elections. With his name on the ballot paper, a purpose
“With Bawumia as our candidate, we shall not only defend the Ashanti votes, but a percentage target would be set for each NDC stronghold, and we will take the fight to the NDC to achieve those votes.”
“On this note, we the Diaspora4DMB spanning across the 27 external branches of the NPP, namely: United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Cote d’Ivoire, Denmark, Equatorial Guinea, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Middle East, Nigeria, Norway, Qatar, Senegal, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and Togo hereby declare and endorse Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the next Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party.” The group said.
Diaspora4DMB however charged delegates of the party to make it a mandate to vote for Dr Bawumia to be the flagbearer of the party so as to break the eight in the 2024 polls.
