Former Minister of Tourism, Catherine Ablema Afeku has lambasted Joseph Osei-Owusu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashanti Bekwai for endorsing the Vice President, Dr Bawumia.
The Bekwai MP popularly known as Joe Wise a couple of weeks ago stated on Oyerepa TV that, he and his constituents (Delegates) have endorsed Vice President Dr Bawumia’s presidential bid.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Thursday, May 17, 2023, Catherine Afeku who is the Deputy Spokes Person for Alan Kyerematen stated that, Joe Wise has no authority to intimidate or push the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) delegates in the Ashanti Bekwai constituency to vote for Bawumia.
“Joe Wise is my in-law, his vote is just one. He can’t intimidate, coerce or push people to go and vote for Bawumia, it won’t work at all because people are discerning.”
“I can say that Joe Wise spoke for himself; he made a general statement which we call political talk.” She added.
Several NPP Members of Parliament, for instance, Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, Joe Wise among some high-profile executives have all thrown their weight behind Bawumia.
On the other hand, Catherine Afeku believes that, although endorsement in itself is not a bad thing, “a true and genuine endorsement comes from the grassroots.”
