A brokenhearted man, Richard Mintah, has made an emotional appeal on Oyerepa Afutuo with Auntie Naa, saying he is considering ending his life after enduring what he describes as persistent humiliation and betrayal involving his wife, her family, and a church elder.
According to Richard Mintah, who appeared brokenhearted on the programme, a Church of Pentecost elder identified only as Dad Joe, who lives in their area at Buokrom, South Africa, in the Kumasi Metropolis, has allegedly snatched his wife, Debora Asantewaa.
Narrating his ordeal, Richard alleged that the church elder began having an intimate relationship with his wife after he assisted the couple in renting an apartment. He claimed the situation worsened after his wife gave birth.
Richard said he named the child Kwabena Mintah after his late father, a decision he cherished deeply.
He further explained that when the child turned two years old, he personally enrolled him in school. However, during a later visit to the school, he was shocked to discover that the child’s name had been changed from Kwabena Mintah to Cleverley, without his consent or knowledge.
He said he raised concerns about the name change several times, but instead of receiving understanding, he was repeatedly insulted by his mother-in-law.
According to Richard, his mother-in-law openly told him on several occasions that he was “too ugly,” remarks he says have deeply affected his mental and emotional well-being.
“She keeps telling me I am ugly. She has said it many times, and I can’t take it anymore. It’s killing me emotionally,” he lamented.
Richard told Auntie Naa that the alleged affair, coupled with the constant insults and lack of respect, has pushed him into depression.
He admitted that the situation has become unbearable and that he is now contemplating ending his life if nothing is done.
“I want to end my life because they have made the world so bitter for me to live in. I can’t stand my mother-in-law’s insults anymore. I want to kill myself.” Richard cried.
