Mzbel has spoken openly about her recent talks with the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Santana, clarifying that her response to him was caused by self-defence rather than personal hatred.
In an interview on Mothers FM, the musician explained that she does not hold any personal resentment against Abeiku Santana but felt pushed to react to comments she found improper.
“I don’t have any personal issue with Abeiku Santana,” she said. “He made a comment I wasn’t comfortable with, so I responded.”
Mzbel stressed the importance of protecting one’s image, noting that she is cautious about associating with people whose words or actions could damage her reputation.
“When someone reveals who they are, especially in relation to your brand, there’s no reason to keep any association with that person,” she explained.
She further disclosed that her reaction was not sparked by a single statement, but by a pattern of comments Abeiku Santana had allegedly made about her over time.
“Even before he referred to me as a former musician, there were other things he had said about me. On several occasions, he had already damaged my image,” she added.
According to Mzbel, she was aware of some of these remarks in the past but chose to ignore them since she did not hear them directly.
“I heard about those comments, but I didn’t take them seriously because I didn’t hear him say them myself,” she noted.
However, she explained that her latest response was prompted by comments she personally heard and considered disrespectful, making it impossible for her to remain silent.
