The Kumasi High Court has cleared the way for the final funeral rites of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, to proceed as scheduled on December 6, 2025.
This follows the dismissal of an interlocutory injunction application filed by the musician’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, who sought to prevent the external family from organizing the funeral until certain matters were resolved.
Delivering her ruling on Tuesday, October 28, the presiding judge, Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, held that under Ghanaian customary law, the right to decide on funeral arrangements and the handling of a deceased person’s remains lies with the family.
The court further ruled that halting the funeral would not be in the best interest of the family or the public.
“Accordingly, the application for interlocutory injunction is hereby refused,” she concluded.
Daddy Lumba is expected to be laid to rest on December 6, 2025, as announced by the family.
