The Ministry of the Interior has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as statutory public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter celebrations.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 30, the Ministry confirmed that the two days—Good Friday and Easter Monday—will be observed nationwide.
The holidays provide an opportunity for Christians across the country to mark one of the most significant periods on the Christian calendar, commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Good Friday, which falls on April 3, represents the crucifixion, while Easter Monday, observed on April 6, continues the celebration of the resurrection.
Easter in Ghana is typically characterised by church services, family gatherings, and social activities, with popular destinations such as Kwahu expected to draw large crowds for the annual festivities.
The Interior Minister urged the public to observe the holidays responsibly and in accordance with the law, while reflecting on the spiritual importance of the season.
