A Ghanaian woman in her mid-30s has reportedly died in Toronto, Canada, after an extended period of fasting and alleged overreliance on a substance known as ‘Yesu Mogya’—translated as “Jesus’ Blood.”
The woman, whose identity has not yet been made public, is said to have undergone several weeks of intense fasting, during which she relied heavily on Yesu Mogya, a liquid believed by some to possess spiritual or healing powers.
According to accounts circulating online, she consumed large amounts of the substance throughout her fast. Her body was discovered in her apartment in Toronto, with indications that she may have been dead for several days before being found.
The incident was first highlighted in a viral video shared by another Ghanaian woman living in Canada. In the video, she described the disturbing scene and urged members of the Ghanaian community to be cautious about extreme spiritual practices.
The woman’s death has sent shockwaves through the Ghanaian diaspora in Canada, sparking widespread concern about the growing popularity of Yesu Mogya and the dangers of prolonged fasting without medical supervision.
Many in the community are now calling for increased education and awareness around the health risks of extreme religious rituals and unverified spiritual substances.
In the viral video, the narrator issues a heartfelt plea: “Please, take care of your health. Spiritual devotion should never come at the cost of your life.”
