The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially reinstated Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) across the country, in line with a directive from President John Mahama.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday, July 17, 2025, and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of the Public Affairs Unit at GES.
According to the statement, the reinstatement is intended to strengthen collaboration among parents, teachers, and communities in the collective effort to improve the quality of education in Ghana.
“All heads of public senior high schools, technical, and STEM schools are to operationalise the reinstatement with immediate effect,” the statement directed.
GES noted that the return of PTAs is expected to enhance support for public schools in key areas such as infrastructure development, student discipline, and academic performance.
The Service also called on all stakeholders—parents, educators, and community leaders—to offer their full support to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the policy.
