The Ghana Police Service has arrested four individuals in connection with two separate robbery incidents in the Upper West Region.
In a statement signed by DCOP Francis Yiribaare, the police disclosed that three of the suspects—Iddrisu Sidibey (19), Abdulai Bandey (20), and Suleman Issah Zibrim (23)—were arrested in the Chogsia community.
According to the statement, the suspects are linked to two robbery attacks involving victims Thomas Dormatey and Issah Ibrahim. They are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.
Police said the three suspects attacked the first victim, Thomas Dormatey, a teacher, on February 28, 2026, between the Gadi and Chogsia communities. They reportedly robbed him of his mobile phone and GH¢2,600 after shooting him in the leg.
The second incident occurred on March 8, 2026, at the same location, where Issah Ibrahim was robbed of his mobile phone and GH¢2,750 while returning from the Jagluu community at about 7:30 pm.
Further investigations led to the arrest of a fourth suspect, Abdul Rahman Abdulai, at Gojiyiri near Wechau on March 11, 2026. Police say he is believed to have supplied the firearm used in the robberies. The weapon was later retrieved from a bush area based on information he provided.
The police also revealed that two additional suspects, identified as Adil and Sambo, are currently on the run and are being actively pursued.
All four arrested suspects have been arraigned before the Wa District Magistrate Court and remanded into custody. They are expected to reappear in court on March 26, 2026.
