A group of traders at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region has appealed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to select Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare, as his running mate for the upcoming elections.
The women, who sell various goods including yam, tomatoes, and fruits, believe Madam Opare’s humanitarian qualities and attributes make her an ideal candidate for the position.
Addressing the media on Sunday, June 30, 2024, the Ejisu market women praised Madam Opare’s exceptional leadership skills, compassion, and dedication to public service, stating that she would complement Dr. Bawumia’s presidential bid.
“Frema Osei Opare embodies humanitarianism, and as an intelligent woman, she can conveniently complement Dr. Bawumia on the ticket for the NPP. With her support, the party can break the eight,” they said.
The traders warned the NPP sternly, stating that if the Chief of Staff is not selected as the running mate, they will vote massively against Dr. Bawumia, leading to a defeat in the impending Ghanaian general elections.
“We, the women in Ashanti, will vote against the NPP if Bawumia fails to appoint Madam Opare as the running mate. Dr. Bawumia should consider this a warning,” they emphasized.
