A 28-year-old pupil teacher at a private school in the Eastern Region, has been jailed 12 years in prison with hard labour by the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court.
Enoch Amponsah pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement when he first appeared in court presided over by His Honour, Kwase Apiatse Abaidoo.
The convict and victim live in the same neighborhood.
The prosecutor narrated that the victim attended weekend classes organized by her school authorities. After the classes, Enoch, sent her on errand in one of the offices, and later engaged her in sexual intercourse.
It was revealed during the hearing that Enoch warned the victim not to disclose the sexual encounter to anybody.
“The victim was lured again by the teacher for several sexual intercourse encounters in his room on different dates in October and November,” prosecution added.
Her inability to walk, heightened her mother’s suspicions. After questioning, the victim disclosed to her mother that the teacher, popularly known as Sir Enoch, had been having sex with her.
A formal complaint by the mother to the police led to Enoch’s arrest and prosecution.
The convict admitted defiling the victim on five different occasions in his statement.
