Jerry James Sukah, popularly known as Papa Jay, a Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Oforikrom constituency, has called for urgent leadership changes at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) amid the country’s ongoing power challenges.
Speaking on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show, Papa Jay alleged that some individuals within ECG are deliberately working to sabotage the Mahama administration by worsening the power crisis, commonly referred to as “dumsor.”
“Just as President Mahama is making changes in the security services, there should also be a reshuffle at ECG, especially among those appointed by the previous NPP government. There are people within ECG who are trying to undermine the NDC government,” he asserted.
Papa Jay further cited an incident where the Ashanti regional minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, confronted ECG officials over a sudden power outage, only for electricity to be restored within minutes. He suggested that such occurrences raise concerns about whether some elements within the company are intentionally manipulating the power situation.
