The Managing Director of Ghana Post, Bice Osei Kuffour, also known as Obour, has revealed that his decision to run for the Asante-Akim South Constituency Member of Parliament position was influenced by various religious leaders in the area.
Obour ran for the position under the NPP ticket in the 2020 elections but unfortunately lost. As a result, he initially decided not to run again in 2024.
However, during an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Obour shared that he was approached by the Clergy and Imams who encouraged him to contest for the Asante-Akim South seat, emphasizing that his victory would bring unity to the constituency.
“In 2023, the Local Council of Churches and Imams in Asante-Akim South approached me with a proposition. They suggested that if I were to run for the MP position in 2024, it would foster unity between Muslims and Christians. To demonstrate their support, they even took the initiative to pick nomination forms on my behalf.”
He mentioned that Christians, Muslims, and other religious groups in the Asante-Akim South constituency are fervently praying for his victory in the NPP primaries, as they perceive him as the individual capable of fostering peace and unity within the area.
“As we speak, in the Asante-Akim South constituency, if you go to every mosque, the Muslims are praying for me and in every church, the Christians are also praying for me to become the MP.” Obuor disclosed.
The former musician expressed that, he is very optimistic about emerging victorious after the NPP primaries.
The New Patriotic Party will hold its parliamentary primaries on 27th January 2024.
