The chief of Awutu Akrampa in the Awutu Senya West District, Nai Kojo Yamoah, has appealed to the District Assembly and other stakeholders to urgently address the community’s long-standing water crisis.
Awutu Akrampa, a trading community with a population of over 1,000, has been battling severe water shortages for more than a decade. According to the chief, tap water is expected to flow once a month, but in reality, it hardly reaches residents.
Speaking during the celebration of the Akrampa Black Stool Festival under the theme “Let Us Come Together and Build the Community”, the chief called on the DCE, MP, and government to intervene immediately. He further instructed the Assembly to demolish all structures built along waterways to help prevent flooding in the area.
Meanwhile, the DCE for Awutu Senya West, Kalala Eghan, urged the community to remain patient, explaining that the contractor working on the dualization of the Kasoa–Winneba highway had disconnected the pipelines supplying water to the area. He assured residents that water tankers would be deployed to serve the community until the road project is completed.
