A building under construction at the premises of the Architectural Engineering Group at Roman Ridge in Accra collapsed on Tuesday, October 28, trapping several workers beneath the debris.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Headquarters swiftly responded to the scene and have since been working relentlessly to rescue those trapped under the rubble.
In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the GNFS confirmed that the incident occurred earlier in the day and that rescue operations were actively underway.
The collapse has caused panic among workers and nearby residents, as the exact number of people trapped and the cause of the incident remain unclear.
According to GNFS officials, emergency teams are using heavy-duty equipment and specialised tools to reach the victims. The area has been cordoned off to ensure public safety and facilitate rescue efforts.
Authorities have assured the public that a full investigation will be launched to determine the circumstances leading to the collapse once the rescue operation concludes.
