Big Push: Construction works starts today on Takoradi to Cape Coast highway dualisation

President John Dramani Mahama is set to perform a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, October 21, to officially commence construction works on the dualisation of the Takoradi–Cape Coast highway.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the event forms part of the President’s one-day working visit to the Western Region.

The statement noted that the project, which falls under the government’s ‘Big Push’ initiative, is among thirty-two major road projects highlighted in the 2025 mid-year budget review.

It explained that the long-anticipated expansion of the Takoradi–Cape Coast corridor is part of the government’s broader national infrastructure agenda aimed at boosting economic growth, attracting investment, and creating jobs.

During his visit, President Mahama is also expected to inspect ongoing expansion and renovation works at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and the Western Regional Hospital.
