The Ashanti Regional Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yandoh, has dismissed claims of vote-buying during the party’s just-ended presidential primaries, insisting that no money was paid to delegates by any of the contenders.
Speaking on the conduct of the elections, during a panel discussion with Kwesi Parker Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time Mr. Yandoh stated emphatically that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia did not give “even GH¢1” to any delegate to influence the outcome of the polls. He added that, to the best of his knowledge, he did not witness any candidate offering money or other inducements to secure votes.
According to him, the primaries were largely peaceful and transparent, with delegates freely exercising their choice without intimidation or financial pressure. He described the process as a reflection of the party’s internal democracy and growing political maturity.
The NPP primaries, which were held nationwide, brought together thousands of accredited delegates to elect the party’s flagbearer for the next general election. Voting took place across all regions, with party officials overseeing the process under tight security.
