President Akufo-Addo has been advised to come out publicly and disassociate himself from his Lawyer, Akoto Ampaw.
It could be recalled that President Akufo-Addo declared that he will not legalize same-sex marriage in Ghana.
“I have said it before, and let me stress it again, that it will not be under the Presidency of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo that same-sex marriage will be legal”. The President said this at the installation of the 2nd Archbishop of the Anglican Church held in Asante Mampong on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
But Lawyer Akoto Ampaw, who led the legal team of President Akufo-Addo at Supreme Court during the 2020 elections petition is also leading a 15 member group to Parliament to seek the rejection of the Anti-LGBTQ bill.
Commenting on Lawyer Akoto Ampaw et al’s decision to oppose the Anti-LGBTQ Bill, on Oyerepa FM morning on Wednesday, Attorney Lawyer Ampaw said, said: “Akoto Ampaw’s behaviour is risky.”
According to him, Ghanaians will not tolerate any gay rights advocacy.
“We will not tolerate any nonsense…if the Anti-LGBTQ bill has been passed into law, Akoto Ampaw and companies could have been arrested for their gay rights advocacy”. He fumed.
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw lamented that his worry is Akoto Ampaw who is a lawyer to the President.
He reiterated “President Akufo-Addo should publicly disassociate himself from Akoto Ampaw because the matter is dangerous… You’re President’s lawyer…Ghanaians are speaking against gayism but as President’s lawyer you’re rather fighting for gays.” He said on Oyerepa Break show.
